Weather fact: The Jet Streamis made up of strong concentrated, high‐altitude winds. The Jet Streamis responsible for steering weather patterns and causing most turbulence. There are two jet streams which affect North America; the Polar Front Jet and the Subtropical Jet. During summer months, the Subtropical Jet is the dominant feature, bringing in tropical air fromthe south, causing the warmer temperatures in the desert Southwest. The Polar Front Jet is more active during the winter, bringing down the Arctic Air fromthe north, hence the colder temperatures.
