Intelligent Waves, a rapidly growing Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business Fed/DoD Contractor, has an immediate need for an Electronics Technician to support our USAF contract at Nellis AFB, NV to perform non-professional technical work in accomplishing limited design, scientific analysis, measurement, and tests in the evaluation of airborne weapon systems and electronic, electro-mechanical, or electro- optical systems. The work requires the design of specialized instrumentation to measure and record test parameters in a variety of airborne environmental, field, and laboratory conditions.
Roles and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Designs, fabricates, installs, checks and maintains specialized instrumentation systems to measure and record test parameters in a variety of environmental, field, or laboratory conditions.
• Assists in design, development and fabrication of instrumentation systems utilizing such typical subsystems as pulse code modulation telemetry, high speed video, airborne radar sensors, precision navigation sensors and solid-state recorders.
• Designs, develops, and fabricates instrumentation systems which provide valid data and are compatible with data reduction facilities.
• Provides mission and installation support for test program instrumentation requirements. Evaluates installed instrumentation equipment capability against test objectives and environmental conditions to determine if equipment meets required specifications for scheduled test missions.
• Reads and studies technical reports and keeps abreast of the latest developments concerning equipment and techniques which have application to the selection and use of instrumentation for munitions testing.
• Leads with overall responsibility for planning, conducting, analyzing results, preparing test/technical reports and physical security of equipment, electronic systems, devices, and techniques in support of airborne electronic warfare and weapons development programs.
• Plans, organizes, establishes schedules, and directs support efforts for preflight postflight check-out of aircraft instrumentation systems.
• Provides technical consultation involving test instrumentation, methodology, and data analysis. Coordinates requirements and schedules test support personnel for remote tests conducted by the squadron.
• Confers with engineers and flight chief in planning and organizing total support effort.
• Determines test requirements and overall objectives by referring to project documentation and conferring with project engineers.
• Studies test item, observes physical and electrical characteristics in the laboratory, and searches technical reports.
• Selects or devises the basic approach necessary to meet test objectives, determines techniques to be used, and designs preflight-postflight data reduction requirements.
• Works closely with other units to ensure required test instrumentation is available and to schedule tests and organize other phases of a project.
• Investigates and analyzes malfunctions and/or unsatisfactory conditions encountered during tests.
• Perform other Duties as assigned
Qualifications:
• A thorough knowledge of electronic principles and practices, operating parameters, capabilities, and limitations of electronic systems and components associated with airborne and ground instrumentation systems.
• Knowledge of basic electronic concepts and ability to convert theoretical ideas to functional components and systems.
• Skilled in the interpretation of technical data such as
drawings, schematics, blueprints, and specifications of
complete electronic systems.
• Ability to design, fabricate, install and maintain specialized
instrumentation systems which measure and record
• Test parameters in a variety of environmental, field, or
laboratory conditions.
• Ability to use electronic test equipment and ability to provide
technical leadership to other technicians and support
personnel
• Ability to perform calibration and troubleshooting for installed
instrumentation systems
• Including video recording, digital data recording, weapon function monitoring, and other data collection system.
• Comprehensive, intensive, practical knowledge and skilled in applying, technical electronic engineering principles, practices, techniques, procedures, and policies sufficient to design, fabricate, install, check, maintain, and test one-of- a-kind electronic aerospace and specialized instrumentation systems which measure and record test parameters using emerging technology and off-the-shelf materials.
• Plan, develop, modify, troubleshoot, and maintain one-of-a kind airborne instrumentation systems and upgrade their capabilities based on application of emerging technology.
• Plan, design, develop, or construct electronics sensing and measurement devices and applications using newer technology found in aerospace research, development, test and evaluation.
• Control electronic data collection systems using nonconventional modification hardware and understand their capabilities and plan, develop, construct, and integrate new devices into the system to perform multiple tasks not previously associated with aerospace and/or other test and evaluation system capabilities.
• Knowledge of and skill in the use of various pieces of electronic test equipment, such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, PLA/PLC programmers, telemetry systems, spectrum analyzers, oscillators, amplifiers, and power supplies.
• Knowledge of electronic concepts, principles, and techniques applicable to test and evaluation of airborne systems, including radar, missiles, simulations, and instrumentation systems.
• Knowledge must be sufficient to coordinate and work with operating personnel in related fields and test support personnel as required and to plan, accomplish, and analyze test results.
• Knowledge of airborne range facilities and the availability and capability of computer facilities.
• Knowledge required to coordinate data reduction and analyze data to ensure instrumentation compatibility with data reduction capabilities and to monitor validity of data and operational dependability of instrumentation.
• Knowledge of engineering workstation hardware and software sufficient to maintain systems in operating condition with up to date software.
