The second stage, the mature stage, consists of updrafts and downdrafts. At this stage, the stormis at its peak strength when large hail, lightning and extreme turbulence can be found. Finally, the dissipating stage consists of only downdrafts. It is at this point the stormcollapses, bringing down the strong upper level winds which can cause the dust storms prevalent during the Arizona Monsoon.
