P. 98
General Sorkin goes to the window.
SORKIN'S POV: The Kelly tank's rapid grenade launcher
spits out eleven grenades in a row. When the smoke
clears, not one of the Rangers is left alive.
But Sorkin is not impressed.
MAJ. GEN. SORKIN: (derisively) Nothing like a hero. (to
the others)
Prepare for battle, boys. We got a hero on our
ass. An ass-hero.
A THUNDEROUS BOOM. The concussion rocks the
room. A separate problem is occurring.
LT. WHARTON: (wide-eyed, staring out window) General
--.
He looks down as the ENTIRE BUILDING TREMBLES.
OUTSIDE BASE HEAD- QUARTERS - NIGHT
With General Yeager almost calmly guiding it, the Kelly
tank goes right up the front steps and makes its own
entrance, ripping into the base control center.
IN THE BASE HEADQUARTERS' LOBBY - NIGHT
From the left hall, FOUR AIRMEN run towards the tank,
firing pistols.
GENERAL YEAGER: Eyeballs the hapless defenders,
greeting them with his accurate M16. All fall down. He
leaps off the tank as the 40-ton visitor halts in front of the
men's room.
The General steps quickly over the bodies.
