ACROSS THE STREET: The picture window curtain is
pulled back, and the Neighbor peeks out of the picture
window, his wife stepping behind him in her nightgown.
NEIGHBOR'S VOICE: People think only of themselves.
MOVE AWAY FROM THE WINDOW to a telephone pole
next to a towering elm on the peaceful corner.
ON THE TELEPHONE POLE: Is a rusting, busted Air
Raid Siren built in 1958. A mourning dove has made its
nest here, and now the bird pops out and flies off.
DEAFENING SILENCE.
