THE FIRE IS NOW ON AN OVERHEAD TV NEWSCAST -

AMBULANCE LIGHTS ARE On the Seven O'clock Local

News. We watch earlier events as REPORTERS follow

Bud being removed from his house by ambulance

attendants.

TV NEWSCASTER: A Glen Ridge man was shot in his

own living room this afternoon by heavily armed men

who later abducted another unidentified man along with

his vehicle.

A SMALL COLORED BALL is tossed up in front of the

plasma screen.

WE ARE: IN ST. CLEMENTS HOSPITAL ROOM - NIGHT

The ball is being tossed by DETECTIVE FRANK

ZABRINSKI of the Philadelphia Police. Watching TV from

his hospital bed, Frank is performing a one-ball juggling

act to strengthen his already muscular arm, ignoring the

intravenous needle entering his vein as he uses his wrist

to toss the ball to the ceiling and back.

Veteran Officer Frank was due for retirement, but getting

rudely shot in his last tour has changed his mind. -- Oops,

he misses the ball, and it bounces off the bed onto the

floor.
