PRAYERS FOR THE WEEK
“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.” Mark 12:30
TO GOD: Father, today I put you in the highest place. I declare that my ‘chief end is to glorify God, and to enjoy him for ever’ (Westminster Shorter Catechism).
FOR THE CHURCH: Heavenly Father, may we neither be lukewarm nor simply outward in our love for you. Set our hearts on fire with zeal and a passion for you above all else.
FOR THE WORLD: Lord, we pray for the lonely, hurting people who long to know genuine love. May we love, not out of obligation but because the Holy Spirit inspires us to joyfully do so.
FOR OUR NATION: Father, as a nation we reap the consequences of godlessness. May the love of God be shed abroad in our hearts, as we work alongside agencies to stem the epidemic of mental health illness.
FOR OUR FRIENDS: Father, may our lives be ‘living epistles’ (2 Corinthians 3:2-3), making known your love irrespective of person, creed or culture.
FOR MYSELF: Father, forgive me when I allow other things to captivate my heart and mind. ‘So in everything he (Jesus) might have the supremacy’ (Colossians 1:18). Amen and amen!
PRAYER
Father, please equip and inspire all the speakers who take part in the NCT events. In Jesus name.
AMEN.
PRAYER FOR PERSONAL COMMITMENT
A PROMISE FROM GOD TO CLAIM:
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” The Lord Jesus stands outside our lives longing to be invited into them, and to make his eternal life real for us. What do we have to do? Pray the following prayer as your personal response to God!
A PRAYER TO OFFER TO GOD:
‘Lord Jesus Christ, I am sorry for the things I have done wrong in my life. I ask for your forgiveness and turn from everything that I know is wrong. Thank you for dying on the Cross for me to set me free from my sins. Please come into my life and fill me with your Holy Spirit and be with me forever. Thank you Lord Jesus. Amen.’
A PATHWAY TO WALK WITH GOD:
Jesus calls you to be his friend and share your life with Him. He will guide and strengthen you. He will not fail you or abandon you (Deut 31:6). He wants you to trust Him and obey what He says. It is the start of an exciting new life.
