Saturday November 22 - The faithfulness of God
For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting, and his faithfulness endures
to all generations. Psalm 100:5
As I think about Joseph’s life, I am overwhelmed by a sense of the faithfulness of God, passing from one generation to another. The same faithfulness that underpinned Joseph’s life upholds you and me. Twila Paris’ timeless song sums it up: ‘Oh Lord, you have been good, you have been faithful to all generations. Oh Lord, your steadfast love and tender mercy have been our salvation. For by your hand we have been fed and by your Spirit we have been led.’
It would take a whole edition for me to begin to write about the goodness of God that I’ve experienced throughout my 78 years, 27 of which I lived without knowing the wonder of God’s love. Those early years were predominantly years of mercy, when God withheld his wrath; the latter years have been years of outrageous, undeserved grace. My wife Carol regularly prompts me to write a book, a testimony to God’s goodness; my lame excuse is that I’m too busy living it!
May the goodness of God go beyond your understanding to pervade your living. Joseph had the perfect opportunity to get revenge but he resisted. His brothers eventually repented and his family was reconciled. How wonderful! If you are yet to yield your life to God in repentance, please consider praying the prayer of commitment on the reverse of this booklet. You’ll not regret it!
Thank you, Father – your grace is sufficient for me, for your power is made perfect in my weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9). Amen.

PRAYERS FOR THE WEEK
He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.” Mark 16:15
TO GOD: Father, we rejoice in the knowledge that you are the God of all peace and amazing grace. May we share your grace and peace with our needy world at every opportunity.
FOR THE CHURCH: Lord, forgive us when we disobey, and become more concerned about ourselves than about those who are perishing without the knowledge of Christ.
FOR THE WORLD: Lord of the harvest, we pray you will raise up labourers, for the harvest is ripe (Matthew 9:37-38)..
FOR OUR NATION: Lord Jesus, your return is imminent. Commission men and women, filled by your Spirit, to preach the good news boldly and declare the wonders of God.
FOR OUR FRIENDS: Father, it is your will that none may perish (2 Peter 3:9); therefore I pray with confidence for ...............
FOR MYSELF: Loving heavenly Father, may I never be ashamed of the gospel. I confess that ‘it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes’ (Romans 1:16). Amen.
     PRAYER
Father, please help me to stand firm in my faith and to be rooted in your Word.
AMEN.
