Saturday May 25 - Conformed to be like Jesus
For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son... Romans 8:29
We close this edition with the wonderful aspiration of being transformed into the likeness of Jesus. Throughout this edition, we have humbly sought to align ourselves with the disciples’ cry, “Lord, teach us to pray” (Luke 11:1). Thank you for journeying with us.
It is fitting to end with the high purpose of God, namely to be conformed to the image of Jesus. Just a few chapters on we read, ‘Do not conform... to the pattern of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – his good, pleasing and perfect will’ (Romans 12:2). The purpose of Living Light, and why I so readily accepted the role of being its editor, is to offer a radically different pattern of thinking – thinking not according to the philosophies of the world but rooted in the truth of God’s word. The outcome of such thinking is just wonderful; we become aware of God’s good, pleasing and perfect will. Could anything be better?
We hope that by listening to Jesus, and through the Holy Spirit praying, you have gained a greater insight into the mind of Christ, and an even more effective and fervent prayer life. So let’s pray together:
Dear Father, I thank you for all you have done in my life and for the high calling to be an ambassador for Christ. It is my desire to honour you with my life. Come fill me afresh with your precious Spirit. Amen.

Romans 8:29
TO GOD: Father, we rejoice in the knowledge that you created Adam in your own image and that you are recreating us to be like you (Galatians 4:19).
FOR THE CHURCH: Lord, please forgive us for the times we lose sight of the fact that we are the body of Christ, and dishonour your Name.
FOR THE WORLD: “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven” (Matthew 5:16). May we realise this high calling and take every opportunity to shine for you.
FOR OUR NATION: May this country witness ‘the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in us, the hope of glory’ (Colossians 1:27).
FOR OUR FRIENDS: Father, it is your will that none may perish (2 Peter 3:9), and therefore I pray with confidence for...
FOR MYSELF: Loving heavenly Father, please help me to co- operate with the sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit – “Not I, but Christ!” (Galatians 2:20). Amen.
NCT PRAYER
Father, please keep my eyes fixed on you, My Lord and My Deliverer. AMEN.
