MALVERN HIGHLIGHTS
MALVERN COLLEGE
Outdoor Pursuits
Sport
Cricket is important at Malvern, so to feature in The Cricketer’s Magazine top 100 cricketing schools was a welcome accolade.
We have seen great results from our Equestrian Team. One of our Fencers has represented England in a U14 tournament in Finland. Our Netball and Hockey Teams have played exceptionally well in a number of competitions and our Rugby squads have seen players selected for local Teams including Worcester Warriors and Gloucester U15’s.
Mountain Biking over the Malvern Hills
The winter season of mountain biking has ended and the intrepid braved the undulating and at times challenging terrain through blizzards, whipping rain, winds and in the dark and loved every moment of it. In the spring and early summer the OP Team enjoy the incredible flora and fauna to be found on the Malverns.

The Aston Society
The Aston Society is Malvern’s Academic Society for the Lower School and offers younger pupils the opportunity to present on areas of interest for them, expanding their own knowledge and research skills and sharing their findings with their peers.
One example of an Aston Society lecture is Lost Civilisations by Ani King who posed the question “What if there was evidence of a civilisation that pre-dates Ancient Egypt
by 6000 years”?
The presentation covered a wide range of different aspects of the culture of Gobekli Tepe including uncovering some interesting links between the myths and iconographies
of this society with those of other ancient cultures. Ani explored the theories that might explain the decline of these ancient civilisations including meteor strikes, global cooling and enormous post- glacial flood events.
Ani also discussed Gunung Padang
in Indonesia, another civilisation that
has recently changed the perceived understanding of the world’s oldest settlements. She revealed how recent discoveries challenge our understanding of human history and may even offer some possible explanations about the loss of the famous city of Atlantis.
Biology Olympiad
In February 53 Sixth Form biologists sat the Biology Olympiad - two challenging exams testing pupils’ knowledge and understanding of the subject. Nearly 50% of those who took part from Malvern College won medals and gained certificates.
