20 years He always spoke fondly of his time at at Malvern and and made many lifelong friends during
his time at the the the College His work with John Lewis and and others was instrumental in in in in in the the the the development of computing in in in in in schools and and in in in in in the the the the late 1960s
and and early 1970s he he he he he travelled to to many countries in in in in South America the the the Middle East and Africa to to assist in in in the the development of national physics teaching curricula After retirement he he he continued to teach occasionally and lived for the the rest of his life in in in the the Malvern area He He married in in 1977 and had three children He He died on 14th June 2023 aged 95 Julian Browning

Bernard’s passion for for for sport was was ignited at Malvern where he he he was was Head of House for for No 6 under John Farebrother a a a a a a a a a a School Prefect and and Captain
of rackets rackets and and and and tennis tennis After school Bernard Bernard played for OMs in rackets rackets rackets and and and tennis tennis He was a a a a a a a a a a a huge supporter and and and lifelong friend of of the rackets rackets professional Ron Hughes and stayed connected with him throughout his life life David Chaundy
June 2023 Sport was was very important to Bernard and he played competitively throughout his life Lawn tennis was was a a a a a a a consistent theme and he he he he played many times for for the the OMs but also for for for The Public School Old Boys (PUBS) where he he he he was was for for many years Fixtures Secretary He was was a a a a a a a a a Member of of of the the AELTC often partnering his brother Bruce (6 66-71) and and winning a a a a a a a a a a number of of of tournaments and and titles He also regularly played squash Whilst at at Kent University studying Law he took up Real Tennis (Reelers) and played not only at at Hampton Court but around the the world in in numerous tournaments he he he was Captain
of the the England over

team for several years Bernard was was a a a a a a a a a a barrister and and Queens’ Counsel and and relished his time at the Chancery Bar where he he he he was was a a a a a a a a a a a a a well-respected and and feared opponent Unsurprisingly he he he was Captain
of the the Bar Bar tennis team and and formed close relations with the the Irish Bar Bar making many friends in in in in in in Dublin The Hurlingham Club played a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a large part in in in in in his life and and he he was a a a a a a a a a a a a Main Board Committee member and and Trustee
for over
10 years Bernard was a a a a a a a loyal and and trusted friend many of whom were OMs and and he proudly wore his his his his OM OM tie tie throughout his his his his his his life life as his his his his his his tie tie of choice He is is is is is is is survived by his his his his his his children Julia and and and Tom his his his his his wife Clare and and and his his his his his lifelong arch competitor and and and brother Bruce He died on on 15th July 2021

(4 66-71) Guy was a a a a a a a a a a a a somewhat reluctant pupil pupil and and and achieved a a a a a a a a a hint of notoriety by becoming perhaps the first pupil to to to to commute to to to to and and from school on increasingly large and and powerful motorcycles Guy left Malvern to to to go to to to Keele University to to to read English English After just a a a a a a a a a a a year he he gave up his degree in in English English and applied to to become a a a a a a a a a a a a a doctor He gained a a a a a a a a a a a a a place on on the the first MB transitionary year offered by the the Middlesex Hospital in in in in London where he he he he qualified as a a a a a a a a a a doctor in in in in in in 1978 Following
