Historic institutions such as as Malvern College which were built largely in in in the Victorian and Edwardian eras face particular challenges when being
updated and upgraded Most OMs will no doubt be be familiar with the experience of study rooms that that lacked energy-efficient glazing for for example And that that is before we look at at at at dated heating systems in in in the Houses Whilst the the the new masterplan is not available at the the the time of going to to to press the the the the work to to to fund it must start now now From the the the responses to to to our alumni survey we know that OMs care passionately about about the the campus and about about sustainability so with this in in in in mind we are are appealing
to to to to to the the the the whole Malvernian community to to to to to come together to to to to to support the the the the the College’s ambitious plans to to to to to make the the the the the school fit for the the future To kickstart a a a a a dedicated Green Green Fund we held our very first Green Green Giving Day (see page 68) on on 20th/21st June 2023 to support Malvern College in in its new mission What is Net Zero?
Put simply Net Zero means cutting greenhouse gas emissions to to as as as close to to zero as as as possible with any remaining emissions re-absorbed from the atmosphere by oceans and forests
