Compulsory and Optional Subjects, from September 2024
In the Remove (Year 10), pupils will study the curriculum below:
Compulsory subjects
» English
» Mathematics
» Sciences
– either: Double Award Science
(studying 2 lessons in Biology, Chemistry & Physics per week) (2 GCSEs)
– or: Three Separate Award Sciences (studying 3 lessons in Biology, Chemistry & Physics per week) (3 GCSEs)
» English as an Additional Language (EAL); All non-native English-speaking pupils follow an EAL course in the Remove and Hundred unless the Head of EAL has assessed them and deemed EAL to be unnecessary.
Optional subjects
Pupils will select between 2 and 4 additional subjects (see table on page 2) to bring them up to 8 GCSEs. They then have the choice of the 4 different routes.
