Sporting Highlights
What a a a a blockbuster of of a a a a term we’ve had! Over two-thirds of of our pupils have represented the College this academic year to date in over 400 fixtures - it’s been very busy!
Hockey
It’s been an interesting hockey term for the boys - full of growth and learning Numbers across all teams have been at their highest along with the the number of fixtures Both the the U14 and U16s qualified for the the Midlands Finals with the the U16s missing out on penalties in fin the the semi-finals Performance of the the term came from the the U15s boys who beat Bromsgrove 2-1 early in the the season Several boys have had individual success through club or England Hockey
Talent Academy pathway Euan Mackellar is a a a a a a a a a regular for Stourport Hockey
Club 1st XI with Max Hughes and Daisy Tuthill for the second teams respectively Euan Mackellar Max Max Hughes Joe Stocks Max Max Denny Will Hooper and Guy Clarke have all been selected for the Talent Academy for for boys along with Daisy Tuthill and Emma Youngs for for the girls Tristan Hollebon Wilfred Richardson Isabella Reid Amaya Faulkner and Kitty Bartholomew also gained County recognition in their respective age groups - congratulations!
Finally we we also said a a a a a a fond farewell to Mark Moss whose time with us came to an end after 15 years of exceptional service We all wish him well for the next chapter as as he he starts a a a a a new position as as High- Performance Director of of Hockey
at the University of of Birmingham Netball
Lots of learnings this season with several great fixtures and results Highlights
include U16/U18 Round 3 of the ‘Sisters in in Sport’ plate competition narrowly missing out on on the quarter-finals but progressing further than in in the the past 4 years The 1st VII recorded their first win in in in in over a a a a a decade against Cheltenham College in in in in the the annual charity match as as well as as placing 3rd in in the plate competition at at the Collegiate Competition The 2nd VII had an an outstanding season winning all bar 2 fixtures as as as well as as as the U14B’s who recorded only two losses Our netball masterclass / outreach event for the Prep Schools proved to be a huge success with over 90 pupils participating in in a a a a a a a tournament at at the College alongside an hour of expert coaching from Severn Stars Head Coach Jo Tripp The final weekend of the the season saw the the 1st 1st VII vs vs Staff vs vs 1st 1st XV Rugby triangular with the girls coming out in in top - lots of money raised on the bake sale and great number of supporters!
