Interhouse Science Competition
Having not managed to hold an an Interhouse Science Competition
in in 2020-21 it it has been fantastic to hold the competition again in in this academic year We started the the the competition in the the the Biology department where the the the pupils were tasked with analysing samples and identifying the components from 4 different bottles of white powder without labels Ellerslie House House House went into the lead with House House House No No 1 and House House House No No 4 in in in joint second place and House No 7 close behind The Chemistry round saw the pupils diluting solutions in in order to create a a a a a a a chemical clock that would turn black at at at exactly 30 seconds seconds and another at exactly 45 seconds seconds House No 5 5 were the leaders in in this round with Houses No No 4 and No No 3 as joint second and Ellerslie House close behind The final physics round saw the Physics build and tune a a a a a musical instrument made from everyday materials The pupils were amazingly inventive from a a a a a bucket-style cello to tubular bells and a a a a a a a piano made from a a a a a a a cardboard box and splints! The instruments were judged on creativity the ability to play a a a a a a a a scale and also a a a a a a a a melody House House No 1 were the winners in in this round with Houses No No No 5 and and No No No 2 joint second and and House No No No 3 close behind In the the the overall competition once the the the scores were added up the the the winning team was House House No 1 with Ellerslie House House in in in second place then Houses No No 3 and No No 5 in in joint third place Well done to to to all the the pupils who took part and many thanks to to to the the science staff in in in particular the technicians for preparing everything and tidying up the aftermath after after each round!
