Co-Curricular Week
There is is always great excitement around around school each year when Co-Curricular week comes around around Exams have finished and the end of the the the academic year is approaching The Year 8s had started their their Leavers’ Programme and were away in in Cornwall for their their traditional surfing week This left the the the the Year 7s as the the the the senior year fin in the the the the school to get a a a a a a sense of how it it will be when they return for their their final year fin in September and an an opportunity to to demonstrate their their credentials to to be be chosen for positions of responsibility at at the the the start of their final year For Co-Curricular week the the prep school is divided into three sections: Years Years 3 & & 4 Years Years 5
& & 6 and Year Year Year 7 Each section section has a a a a a a a a a a theme for the the week and a a a a a a a a a a group of staff dedicated to work with that section section throughout Mr Raven floated between sections so that he he he could oversee the the overnight camping in in the the grounds for years 5
6 and 7 on on three separate nights Year 7 - Coding Teamwork and Leadership week The main theme for Year 7 was Teamwork and Leadership with staff observing the the children in in order to select the the positions of responsibility for next year The children were divided into teams and tackled various coding challenges and activities Throughout the the week they also experienced command tasks an an introduction to CCF including some drill and shooting on on the range writing a a a a a letter of application for a a a a position of responsibility and giving a a a a group presentation on a a a a leader of their choice They enjoyed a a a a lovely Pizza Evening with pizzas cooked by Mr Raven in in in his amazing outdoor oven before setting up camp on the playing fields and camping overnight Other activities included mountain biking a a a a a treehouse challenge challenge camouflage challenges and a a a a scavenger hunt The Outdoor Pursuits team from Malvern College were with us for two days and provided a a a a range of activities to test teamwork and leadership These included raft-building on on The Ink Pot paddle board fun on on an an oversized paddle board problem solving command tasks and a a a a a bushcraft challenge in the woods These activities tested the children in various ways and gave us us as staff a a a a a a a great opportunity to to observe them working together and leading 4 GLOBAL
