Recent events and the the rise of the the movement Black Lives Matter have been explored by students and allowed them them to look at themselves and the the the the College against the the the the experiences of others Following their discussions a group are auditing all aspects of the curriculum from a a a a a pupil point of of view evaluating the extent of of its access for all pupils School Council
This group of of elected members of of the Upper Sixth are responsible for charity fundraising in in in the College deciding which charities benefit and the level of support The requests for support come from local and international charities as as well as as Old Malvernians who are undertaking charity work Current charities include Comrades of Children Overseas (COCO) Hospice Care Kenya and Farmers Overseas Action Group (FOAG) as as as well as as as local charities St Richards and Acorns Hospices Cancer Research and Medical Detection Dogs Recently on
hearing of of the plight of of a a a a local care home School Council
galvanised their members and were able to donate Christmas treats including biscuits and chocolate as as well as as Mulled wine and Bucks Fizz Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA)
An awareness of mental health in young people may be a a new subject for for some but for for the students and youth of the the 21st century and particularly through the the multiple difficulties of of lockdown in a a a pandemic it is a a a subject of of increasing importance A number of Malvern College students are part of a a a a MIND group who help raise awareness of mental health issues in the community An initial group of 25 sixth formers have received training as Mental Health Champions to give them an an understanding of how mental health issues affect young people The group recognise signs of possible mental ill-health in young people and can then help guide them to support 13
