Reporting incapacity
If you you cannot attend work because you you are sick or or injured you you you must telephone your your manager on on the first day of your your absence before your usual start time indicating if possible when you expect to to return to to work This procedure must be repeated on each subsequent day of absence not covered by a a a doctor’s certificate If you come to to work but need to to leave during the day because of ill health you you should inform your manager before leaving work If your manager is unavailable you you should inform the the next most appropriate person within the the department If you’re unwell
If you are sick even if it is just one day please complete a a a a self-certification form found on on the government website and provide it it to your line manager (except where a a a a ‘Fit Note’ has been provided by a Doctor) If you are unable to to attend work due to to sickness or or or injury for more than seven days (including weekends) you will need to consult with with your doctor to to be provided with with a ‘fit note’ by the eighth day After a a a a a period of sick leave your Manager will hold a a a a a return- to-work to-work interview with you The purpose of the return-to-work interview is to:
• Ensure you are fit for work and agree any actions necessary to facilitate your return • Confirm you have submitted the necessary certificates • Update you on anything that may have happened during your absence • Raise any other concerns regarding your absence record or or your return to work • Requests for temporary adjustments to your working conditions will be considered by the organisation and will be accommodated wherever possible and if organisational circumstances permit Depending on on the reason you have been away from work your manager and/or a a a a member of the People & Culture Team may wish to ddiscuss with you reasonable adjustments to job duties hours or or working conditions that might help get you back to to work sooner or or to to prevent any further absences Improving people’s lives through education | 63
