Internal Training
• House Assistant/Deputy HouseM lunches – often have a training focus. Examples include: the new National Minimum Standards for Boarding, i-gtm training, ISAMS training, Gender Identity Training.
• HouseM meetings – often have a training focus. Examples include: feedback from the BSA Annual Head of Boarding Conference, new National Minimum Standards for Boarding, i-gtm training, Mental Health, risk assessments and safeguarding.
• Regular staff INSET meetings. Organised for teaching staff by the Director of Studies. Look out for emails from Karen Tudor. Recent meetings include ‘Safeguarding for teaching staff’ by Penny Bijl.
• Visiting other boarding houses. This should be done at least once per year by all House staff. This should include: a tour of the House (including noticeboards). Discussion with House staff about routines and sharing good practice.
• Sharing good practice exchanges with other schools. Please sign up to these. Past examples include exchanges with St Edward’s Oxford, Bromsgrove School, Repton School.
• TES Develop courses (formerly known as Educare). Please contact PA to the Deputy Head Pastoral for login details. External conferences and courses
The BSA and SACPA offer a range of highly relevant webinars, conferences and courses. Please check their news emails and websites for details. Sarah Angus oversees the INSET budget for teaching staff. Kate Tripp oversees the INSET budget for non- teaching staff.
