P. 22
18. Breaking out of House. Houses are alarmed at night for the safety of everybody. Breaking out of House at night is dangerous and means that other people could potentially break into the House. This is treated extremely seriously by the College.
19. Tattoos (including ‘poke and stick’ kits). Pupils must not possess tattoo equipment or tattoo themselves or other pupils for obvious reasons. It is against UK law to give a tattoo to a person under the age of 18.
20. Road safety. Please be careful with road crossings. Please do not walk in the road when walking to sport or going uptown. High visibility clothing is recommended for winter months especially when running or cycling etc.
21. Aerosol deodorants are banned for Lower School pupils. Please hand these into House staff for collection at the next Leave Out.
22. Pupils should not give haircuts to other pupils. If you require a haircut, you should visit a professional hairdresser/barber. Please remember that hair must be appropriate for school and comply with our Pupil Dress Regulations.
23. If you see adults on campus not wearing a staff lanyard, please report this to the nearest member of staff. 24. Please report any accidents or near misses to a member of House staff.
25. Pupils must swipe into all meals with their swipe card or wrist band.
Why are these rules and expectations in place? These rules are common sense and are underpinned by three main considerations:
• respect for other people
• protecting your own safety
• the law
These rules and expectations are continually reviewed and there are many appropriate channels for pupils to discuss any of these rules and expectations:
• Lower School Council and Upper School Council
• House Councils
• Pupil Thrive meetings
• Your HouseM and Head of Year
• Heads of House and Chapel Prefects (who meet regularly with the Headmaster and SLT).
Pupils are also reminded that there are plenty of people in College that they can go to for support and to discuss any concerns, no matter how small:
• Your House Pastoral team: Housem, Deputy HouseM and House Assistants.
• Your tutor
• Head of Year and Deputy Heads of Year
• The Reverend Adam Wharton, the School Chaplain
• Nurses and doctors in the School Medical Centre
• The school counsellor is Mrs Lucy Davies (lucy.davies@malverncollege.org.uk)
• Senior pupils e.g. Head of House team and Peer Mentors
• Mr Faulkner (Deputy Head) and Mrs Young (Director of Pastoral Welfare)
• The Whisper anonymous reporting service. Please see posters.
• A final important reminder that all pupils should know that Mrs Brown is the Designated Safeguarding Lead.
