 7. After referring the matter to the Safeguarding Team/HoPG, then the role of the HouseM/Deputy is to support the pupils affected and to communicate with the parents/guardians about the process.
8. A conversation will take place between the HoPG and the HouseM and, if appropriate, the Safeguarding Team, about suitable sanctions, or other appropriate outcomes. This will be guided by school policy, precedent, disciplinary history, SEND profile and safeguarding considerations.
9. A sanction (if given) will be entered onto ISAMS. The HoPG or HouseM will communicate with the parents/guardians about the incident and the sanctions/appropriate outcomes. Depending on the nature of the incident, this may be via ISAMS notification, email or phone call. The Safeguarding Team and HouseM should consider whether other parents (e.g. of the year group in House) should be informed about the incident.
10. If the behavioural incident is a potential rustication offence, the pupil will meet with the Deputy Head for a disciplinary meeting. At the disciplinary meeting, the HoPG will present the findings of the investigation so far. The HouseM will attend the meeting in support of the pupil. A pupil may request another member of staff (e.g. their tutor) to attend in support instead. The Deputy Head will listen to the findings from the investigation and may ask further questions. The Deputy Head will consider the findings of the investigation, sleep on it, and make a decision about the sanction the following day.
A meeting will then take place with the pupil, the Deputy Head and their HouseM (or other supporting member of staff) to issue the sanction, or other appropriate outcome. A sanction (if given) will be entered on ISAMS and CPOMS. The Deputy Head will communicate with the parents/guardians about the incident and sanctions/appropriate outcomes.
11. Parents may not attend disciplinary meetings but they will be kept informed about the process. Parents will not be given information about other pupils or their sanctions.
12. Support for pupils after incident. The safeguarding team and HouseM should consider whether conversations and additional support is needed for the pupils, including witnesses, and other pupils who might have been affected, after the incident.
