Photography Scholarship 13+/16+
Open-mindedness Think Outside the Box Originality Artistic Passion Problem Solving Skills Experimentation Conceptual Thinking
Photography Scholars will be keen to to experiment and learn about traditional as as well as as contemporary digital photographic processes and will work equally well collaboratively as they do independently They will be expected to communicate clearly and maturely reflect critically on their work and should possess first class problem solving skills Attendance at weekly Photography CCAs is is is expected and they will be required to to attend lectures from visiting photographers artists and industry specialists It is is understood that they will take photography GCSE Candidates will be assessed in in the following manner:
Practical tasks
a) Photograph a a a a a a a a range of of subjects including: abstract images of of ordinary objects Angles viewpoints imaginative use of of light sources creative placement of of objects either inside or outside b) Use a a a a a word/phrase given to to them as as a a a a a focus point for a a a a a photoshoot (Candidates can either use use their own cameras or use use one of our DSLR’s)
Portfolio
Candidates should provide a a a a a a portfolio consisting of 10-20 images illustrating their passion for the the the subject This should show a a a a range of styles and the the the ability to think ‘outside the the the box’ Interview
This will be an an informal discussion with the the the Head of Photography about their their work and their their conceptual thinking about the subject The Neiper Scholarship (16+ entry) is awarded for Art DT or or or Photography in honor
of Richard Neiper an an Old Malvernian who who died in 2012 from Epilepsy but who who always made the the the very most of of his his time in the the the world of of Design and and Technology and and Art at the the the College This award will go to a a a a a a a a a a a candidate who shows a a a a a a a a a a a real thirst for all things creative and and experimental Experience Transformational Learning
