 ABBERLEY ADVENTURES
3
     Games and Outdoor Education
Despite Covid restrictions, children worked enthusiastically throughout our adapted Games programme. The opening of our new all-weather pitch came as the wet weather set in and it was wonderful to see pupils making the most of it. Hockey and rugby training resumed and the wet weather was no match for Mr Richardson’s cross-country enthusiasm! Come rain or shine, the pupils ran within their bubbles and the usual Abberley spirit shone through.
We saw the introduction of what could become a new Abberley tradition, The Patrol Quad Cup! The four sports were hockey, netball, touch rugby and football and all children took part. It was wonderful to see the boys and girls playing together and staff were struck by the excellent spirit with which all of the
matches were played. Swimming lessons continued and this culminated in exciting swimming galas at the end of term. It was brilliant to see children getting so stuck in and seeing how much they have progressed this term.
We will, of course, keep a close eye on restrictions next term and continue with an exciting Games program as far as possible. Football, hockey and netball will be focused on, as well as sevens rugby for the senior boys. Whilst matches are still unable to take place, we will endeavour to keep the children engaged and excited about our longer Wednesday sessions and Mr Richardson is already raring to get going with cross country! We look forward to seeing as many children as possible for pre-season training on 6th January.
