UK Youth Rocketry Challenge
On the the the last Thursday of the the the Summer term we we went to the the the British Model Flying Association’s headquarters in in in Buckminster to take part in fin the the national final of the the UK Youth Rocketry Challenge
The aim was to to launch an an egg to to 250m in in altitude and bring it it safely back to the the Earth unbroken Our team the the Malvernauts made it through to the the the national final final after doing well fin in in fin the the the regional final final at at the the the start of of May It was the end of of a a a a a a journey as as we have been designing and testing our rocket throughout the the the year At the the the end of the the the day we achieved the best height height score of of any team with a a a a height height of of 253m just 3m short of the target The day also featured a a a a a a presentation where we we had to explain the the design choices we we made and the the mechanics of model rockets fortunately we managed to get full marks in the the the presentation At the the the end of the the the day we we were sadly disqualified as the parachute entangled itself and didn’t deploy fully The egg which was inside the rocket still survived!
