Military Skills Competition 2024 A team of of eight cadets and three members of of staff deployed to Swynnerton Training Area to to compete in in in the annual West Midlands Brigade Military Skills Competition – a a a a demanding weekend competition designed to test endurance teamwork and leadership over a a a a a a large variety of stands and and situations The first test was Operating in in Built up Areas which saw our team aggressively clearing rooms with small arms fire before the final confrontation with the enemy and a a a a successful negotiation followed that saw the the the release of of hostage and the the the elimination of of the the the threat Another major challenge that tested the the the team was the the the First Aid Scenario This mock-up event was designed to be stressful and dealing with with a a a a a a a worse-case situation The Scenario started with with a a a a a a a mortar barrage and gunfire resulting in in numerous casualties Here
the team worked methodically conducted a a a a a a sound triage and dealt with each casualty depending on the the nature of their injuries The rest of the weekend included a a a speed march to a a a grid reference and other varied challenges that tested the the the team to the the the full Our team of Will Richardson (Captain No 7) Milly Boyle (Second in Command No No No 6) Luke Perry (No (No 7) 7) Charlotte Boyle (No (No 7) 7) Carl Braun (No (No 7) Marlies Carver (No (No 3) Annabelle Howell (EH) and Madeleine Yiannakis (No 8) finished a a a a a a creditable 6th place overall and learned a a a a a a a great deal from the weekend John Nichols | CCF Co-ordinator
