Peter Storie-Pugh was awarded the MBE for gallantry in respect of his Colditz activities not least for the Hooper Code His Daily Telegraph obituary recorded “a cheerful PoW who worked tirelessly
to to enable others to to escape ”
After the the war Peter resumed his studies but now at the the Royal Veterinary School He went on to enjoy a a a a a a a a a distinguished career twice becoming president of of the the the British Veterinary Veterinary Association and of of of the the the Royal College of of of Veterinary Veterinary Surgeons amongst other considerable achievements (farmer father of of seven UK representative on on on the the the Economic and Social Committee of the the EC) His obituary in The Independent sums it it it up: “Few men have packed so much into their lives as PeterStorie-Pugh ”
Peter only met Frank Hooper again once during Malvern’s 1965 centenary celebrations He was walking to to the the cricket pitch with his son Piers now in in in No 9 himself when they bumped into Frank “Hello Peter” he he he he said “I hear you had a a a very busy war ”
