Ellerslie Old Girls Reunion
Fun laughter laughter and a a a a little more laughter laughter were the order of the the day for the the Ellerslie Old Girls Reunion
held on
on
Saturday 20th May 2023 0ne hundred seventy eight EOGs members of of of staff and and and representatives from the the Malvernian Society and and Malvern Malvern College joined together for a a a a a a a a a wonderful day of of meeting friends old and new all united in in in in the the joyous task of of reminiscing The day started with coffee and pastries at the former Ellerslie Ellerslie School (now Audley Ellerslie Ellerslie a a a a a a a a a a a a a a luxury retirement village) It gave everyone
a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a fantastic opportunity to see how their school campus had changed and and certainly brought back lots of happy and and amusing memories Then it was back to Malvern College College for a a a a a a a a a a a special Chapel service led
by the the College’s Chaplain Rev David David Ibbotson David David spoke about
the the spirit of Ellerslie Ellerslie reading excerpts from from an Ellerslie Ellerslie School advertisement from from 1955: “The school is is is situated 535ft above sea level on
the the slope of the the Malvern Hills There is is is is a a a a a a a a a a a a splendid health record and and every home comfort is is given” and and and “Delicate girls receive special care and and are are are not pressed with with their work All forms of cramming are are are avoided” were just two examples received with with much amusement The hymns had been specially selected for the the the the occasion though the the the the omittance
of of of Jerusalem sparked an an an an an impromptu rendition of of of the the the the the hymn at the the the the the end end of of of the the the service – a a a a a a a a a a a a a gesture which brought a a a a a a a a a a a a a tear to many an an an an eye and certainly created huge smiles all round A drinks reception and lunch followed with a a a a a a a welcome speech
by Malvern College’s Headmaster Keith Metcalfe who spoke about
the the the history of of Ellerslie Ellerslie before handing the the the reigns to to Jo Jo Hampson (Ell 67-74) Jo Jo spoke passionately about
the the the the spirit of of of Ellerslie Ellerslie and and the the the the importance of of friendship both during school days but also through the years since leaving Everyone who attended the the reunion had special memories to to share with EOGs travelling far and and wide to to to attend attend – America Australia and and the the the the Bahamas to to name just a a a a a a a a a a a a a a few of the the the countries these ladies now reside in in The afternoon was topped off by tours o of the campus including to to to to Ellerslie Ellerslie House where our our EOGs were able to to to to see a a a a a a a a display
of Ellerslie Ellerslie School memorabilia A very special time was had by all (see just some of the the the feedback on
on
the the the opposite page) – here’s to the the the next EOG Reunion
