Feedback What is the purpose of feedback?
The purpose of our feedback policy is to make marking meaningful and manageable It should be more work work for the the the the recipient than the the the the donor It should improve the the the the learner not the the the the piece of work work Effective feedback should be accessible for all pupils and enable them to make progress in in their learning Kings’ School Feedback Policy in in Practice
What is the expectation?
» Staff feedback to pupils every 5-8 lessons (a minimum once a a half term) » Feedback is likely to be given on specified pieces of of work work from the scheme of of work work These are identified on the Curriculum Overview sheets » Staff complete a a a a a a Whole Class Feedback Sheet (WCFS) a a copy of which is stored centrally » Staff should record on the the the the feedback sheet the the the activities that they plan for the the the class and also reflect on what needs to change/adapt in the scheme of work to to teach this topic more clearly » When planning feedback teachers should consider ‘What is is going to help this class/ student make the most progress?’ Feedback should be on the task process and/or self- regulation Feedback on on ‘self’ should be avoided » Plan and deliver feedback time Show don’t tell - it is is is important that this is is is seen as planning TEACHING - a a lesson to identify and model excellence reteaching errors misconceptions and spelling mistakes or or as an an opportunity
to extend learning At all times staff should consider how to ensure feedback meets the learning challenges of all all pupils in in their class using adaptive teaching methods to meet their needs This should be completed in lessons » Staff will will record marks in in their own markbook and when agreed this information will be shared in a a a a a departmental markbook » Staff can share these marks with pupils best practice would be to do so after the feedback lesson has been completed to reduce the focus on the mark/grade What will this look like in books?
» » » » » There is no expectation that staff will write in books though they they may choose to if they they wish (taking into account what good written feedback looks like ) Pupils complete all feedback activities in green pen Pupils should put more work into their feedback activities than the teacher Staff should rectify SPaG errors (but there is no need to indicate these in in in individual books) It can be done through feedback tasks There is a a a a departmental best practice for feedback time that that outlines strategies that that are likely to be used 24
