WELCOME TO THE ABBERLEY HALL SATURDAY ENRICHMENT PROGRAMME:
DISCOVER
I am excited to welcome you to Discover, our Saturday enrichment programme. Although attendance on Saturday mornings is optional, we would be delighted if our younger pupils chose to join us and we strongly urge all of our older pupils to take full advantage of all that an Abberley Hall education has to offer. Senior schools want children to be well-prepared for exams
and our academic timetable ensures
that this will be the case, but they also want children to have received a broad education and to have developed interests, skills and passions in a wide range of areas. Our Saturday mornings provide an opportunity to discover and explore six specific areas and also the opportunity
to work towards obtaining awards. At the end of last term we awarded a variety
of Bronze, Silver, Gold and Discovery Awards to pupils from Year 3 to Year 8!
We believe that our Discover programme will support the holistic development of all our pupils and ensure the best possible preparation for the next step in their educational journey. The programme adapts as the different seasons bring
new opportunities and we will continue to listen carefully to parental feedback to ensure that the Saturday experience is constantly evolving and improving.
Saturday afternoons continue to be filled with as many sporting fixtures
as possible and, if selected, pupils are expected to represent the school. We will also always have a vibrant weekend activity programme in place for pupils who are with us for the weekend.
Lunch will, of course, be provided to all those involved on Saturday afternoons. If there are no scheduled fixtures on
a given Saturday, we will endeavour
to run ‘in house’ sports fixtures or run focussed training sessions.
My thanks go to all the staff for their energy in building another exciting programme. We hope that the information on these pages will provide you with everything you need to understand the format of Saturday mornings and we hope, ultimately, that your child will ‘sign up’ to the fantastic activities on offer.
