around half of the the regatta’s 28 crews Therefore Malvern was allocated an an Oceanis 37 from from the the second fleet provided by Fairview Sailing which far from from being the the the raciest of of yachts suited the the the smaller and relative inexperience of of the the the crew well Conditions on on on on on on both days continued a a a a a a regatta tradition for strong winds reducing both fleets to white sails only with two reefs The courses set on on Hill Head produced sharp waves over the the shallows and much green water was had across the the the deck Whilst maximising time ashore in in in the the the Anchor Inn in in in Cowes only three races were held across the the the weekend which reduced Malvern’s opportunity to gain a a a a a a a a a rhythm amongst another relatively inexperienced but enthusiastic crew – Mike Postgate Andy Williams Nick Joyce Bob Citherow Fran Tocher and and Rob Hammond The overall result of of 11th for the the weekend and and completion of of all all races with no breakages to to boat or crew were testament to to their good seamanship and spirits particularly as Covid had robbed three stalwart members the day before 2022 should see a a a return to normality for the OMSC that is is getting good good results with good good humour All new and existing members are encouraged to to to apply early to to to join the the crew for the the Arrow Trophy on 1 & 2 2 2 2 October 2022 Rob Hammond OMSC Secretary
