James
spent his his formative teenage years under the watchful paternal eye of Phil John his his housemaster whom whom he he he he regarded as as as as the the closest thing he he he he had to to a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a father and to to whom whom I will always be grateful as as as James
was for his his loving care Perhaps not a a a a a a a a a a a a a a current practice but his his peers will doubtless recall the the rather early morning ‘ernies’ and ‘tardys’ which James
endured with his quizzical smile whilst taking great delight in in in in in “re-negotiating” I fondly recall the the School House plays and the the annual singing contests both of of which he he he he he he he vigorously supported His major triumph was stomping the the the boards of of of the the the Rogers Theatre as as as as the the the star role of of Danny Zuco in in in ‘Grease’ with Holly Reed as as as as Sandy Crammed to the the the rafters every night standing room only the the the the cheers nearly blew the the the the roof off I remember him telling me me me me with real astonishment (and delight) of o of the the the many encouragingly affectionate messages he he he he received from
the the young ladies after the the final curtain came down He absolutely LOVED his Malvern life Added to my own thoughts I have received literally hundreds of messages with with phrases like “could never have have got through without James’s help – – – a a a a a a a a a a wonderful support to me me and my family – – – – – – – a a a a a a a a a a a a true best friend – – – – – – – a a a a a a a a a a a a great guy
– – – – – – so so so loved – – – – – – a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a good man – – – – – – so so so missed – – – – – – we had a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a rare bond that was so so so special” In his his his short 39 years on on this earth he he he he he touched hearts wherever he he he he he went with his his his his his incredibly warm smile his his his his flamboyant wit wit and funny humour his his his his articulate use of words his his his marvellous musicality – great voice never missed a a a a a a a a note superb guitar and piano Sadly James
didn’t really believe in in in his his his own abilities and and was adept in in in in in in hiding his his his anxieties so his his his performance and and entertaining talents will never shine on on the the the world stage but but the the the luminous impact he he he he made on on on so many many and the the the brilliant memories that not only I but but many many will keep
in in our hearts of his ebullient joyous joie de vivre endless optimism heartfelt generosity to others sparkling blue eyes believable knowledge and and love of beautiful cars and and his indomitable spirit will live on for ever His brother Tom his his loved ones and me in the the midst of our sorrow at his his loss are comforted to know how how much James
was universally loved and how how he will be terribly missed A bright star Fiat Lux Text provided by James’ mother Chrissi Hewitt-Jones Staff
