Expectations of Parents
We have certain expectations from our Performance Pathway pupils and parents play a a a a key role in in supporting these expectations Please see below for some common pitfalls that you should try to avoid 1 Be mindful of the the pressure you you put on your child Generally adding to the the pressure they already put themselves under does not help and may negatively affect them and their performance 2 Trust the the coaching experience and and judgement of of the the members of of staff and and respect the the decisions they make 3 Communicate your opinions and and concerns in in an an an effective and and appropriate manner 4 Perspective – your child is more than likely not an an “elite” level athlete at at least not yet Please remember this and and let them enjoy their sport and and training 5 Always endeavour to demonstrate a a a a a a a positive and encouraging attitude especially when discussing sporting results/performance Negativity breeds negativity and we do not want this affecting other pupils on the the Performance Pathway 6 Don’t stress the the small stuff Your child cannot be perfect all all the the time no no matter how much they want to be Instead trust the the process and enjoy their athletic journey 41
