Driving
Rules Allowing Pupils to Drive to and from Malvern College
Pupils may have approved driving lessons whilst at College with the written permission of their parents and with the permission of their HouseM. The College does not recommend any particular driving instructors, and driving lessons are a private arrangement made between parents
and a driving instructor or company. College commitments take priority and driving lessons must not clash with academic lessons or co-curricular comments.
Driving a car or motorcycle safely to and from the College requires pupils to exercise considerable responsibility and care. Pupils and parents
must complete the relevant form, which can be obtained from the HouseM, and the pupil must make an appointment to see the Headmaster or Deputy Head to discuss driving to school before they can do so. Drivers are not allowed to carry passengers, apart from siblings, and only then with express written permission from the parents. If there are exceptional circumstances where parents wish the driver to carry another pupil, this can only be approved by the Headmaster
or Deputy Head and requires written permission from both parents.
Pupils may only use their cars during school hours with the express permission of the HouseM. Vehicles must always be parked in accordance with HouseM instructions and pupils must leave the car keys with the HouseM. When within the grounds of Malvern College, pupils must drive with the utmost care and obey the speed limit of 15 mph. Pupils that wish
to drive home after Longy are not allowed to have consumed any alcohol that day and must report to the HouseM before driving home. If the HouseM is not satisfied that this rule has been adhered to, the HouseM has the right to refuse to handover the keys for the car and will notify parents accordingly.
