He tells us wee stories, and poetry besides.
He manoeuvres precisely, reversing with style,
When trying to locate the, (delete the comma) toilets in Kyle.
CHORUS
9 There was almost a drama, at the Spean Bridge store. When Ros did some shopping, which Phil found a bore. She sneaked out some cashmere, in a carrier bag,
And left poor Phil flustered, with a security tag.
10 And now it’s all over, the CPD tour,
Dinosaurs and *diatomite – these memories endure. The twa Hellabhal mountains, were wonderful sights. But that didnae stop us, frae wild champagne nights.

Morag writes: ‘The Braw Braw Guides concerns the Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire CPD. John Johnson was regularly the CPD driver, although not of the Skye trip. There are always mentions of “reversing” in CPD songs as we had to do it (or rather John Johnson did) frequently. Verse two describes the visit to Mackie’s farm where we saw the cows all programmed to attach themselves to the milking machinery and being rewarded with a regular supply of food. We also went to the Bullers of Buchan and the Fraserburgh Lighthouse museum. Other locations are self-explanatory.’

Intro
Chorus
1
There yince was a gang
O’ Scottish Tourist Guides
Cam traivelling up to the Garioch, (pronounced Gayrio) Wi’ J.J. at the wheel,
How good that made us feel,
For weel he kens the ways o’ Blue Badge Guide-ios
For – each year there’s CPD
Which informs to a degree,
And usually involves some reversing-o. We get there in the end,
With John going round the bend,
Arriving at our programmed destination-o
None of us was loath
Tae gang up tae Arbroath,
The home of the famous Declaration-o.
Where in April ’51,
With their daring deed all done,
Some Glesgae students left the Stone of Scone-io.
