SKYE GUIDES CPD SONG
Tune: “For these are my mountains” CHORUS
For we’re Scottish Tour Guides, on our CPD,
To Skye we have travelled, its wonders to see.
We’ve climbed in the Cuillins, we’ve sailed on the sea, While trying to resolve all, the geology.
1 We’re staying at Dunollie, our welcome was grand. The house rules were shouted, so we’d understand. “7.30’s yer breakfast, you must tak yer seat,
And ony latecomers - they’ll no get tae eat!”
2 Oor Lorna went climbing - up and doon the Bad Step.
We thought we had lost her, poor John in a “flep”.
We were thrilled to see *dykelets, and gawped at *gabbro, Saw deer and an eagle, and plenty of crow.
CHORUS
3 We did some bird-watching, saw species so rare.
The red-legged CONcrake - you cannot compare. These shy little creatures, they roam through the glens, And often found climbing, with camera lens.
4 To find scenic landscapes, is something we like.
So a waterfall cascade, seemed a jolly nice hike.
By taking the wrong path, we missed the whole view. And the Clearances village – we missed that place too.
CHORUS
5 The MacLeods and MacDonalds, were aye in a fight. The sport of beheading, they loved day and night.
But arson of churches, was head of the list.
There they slaughtered each other, in the Island of Mist.
6 To Trumpan we headed, to seek Lady Grange.
We searched the whole churchyard, but what seemed so strange, The lady had vanished, Ros scurried around
From tombstone to tombstone – she couldn’t be found.
