The loss of the Parliament income dominated the work of the Finance Committee as
it looked ahead to 2010 and beyond. ‘New income streams must be sourced and, in the interim, every item of expenditure has been questioned as to its necessity and whether the same or better can be achieved for a lesser outlay,’ said Norma Clarkson. ‘Difficult decisions have had to be made and Staff costs are, naturally, our biggest outlay, and it was decided with regret to move our General manager, Stewart Daniels, on to a four-day week.’
The next decade would see the STGA face more big challenges but it also was about to enter one of the biggest growth periods for Scottish tourism.
