4 Come with us round Scotland's shores We're exciting; we're not bores,
To all questions we'll reply
If naive, we will not sigh.
In hotels of standard dubious
Quite the opposite of luxurious,
We will be quite magnifique
Blue Badge Guides are fantastique. Hark! The Blue Badge Guides do sing, Glory to this land we bring
DUNDEE SONGS – CPD TRIP OCTOBER 2018 Verse for John Johnston (our driver)
Tune – Yellow’s on the Broom
Good morning to John Johnston - our driver for today
We heard you’ve gone upmarket, and are no longer called “J.J.” But we are just delighted you’re our driver for today
Driving to the Verdant Works and ower the Firth of Tay
Reversing up the road; reversing up the road,
With John undaunted at the wheel, reversing up the road.
Bonnie Dundee (CPD 2018)
Tune – Bonnie Dundee
1 We have come to this city that sits on the Tay Each one of us guests of the STGA
It’s part of a programme that’s called CPD And this year we’re visiting Bonnie Dundee
CHORUS
Let’s fill up our log book with visits each day
And top of the list is the new V & A
Arbroath & St Andrews, Glamis Castle we’ll see-ee As well as the city of Bonnie Dundee
2 Dundee has a history varied and old
Of Jute Mills & whaling & hardships untold
Of marmalade & publishing it can still boast Of the Dandy & Beano & the old Sunday Post
3 Our trip to St Andrews was not history
We ditched all that walking and went on a spree
To Rogerson’s shop for expensive footwear
Now stocks are depleted and the shelves are all bare.
Morag writes: ‘The Dundee CPD was organised by Maggie McLeod and Toni McPherson and we were joined by quite a lot of the English guides from the Institute. We had previously been down to London and Maggie had attended a few of their CPDs.’
