“Silent night, holy night
All is calm, all is bright
Round yon Virgin, Mother and Child Holy infant so tender and mild Sleep in heavenly peace
Sleep in heavenly”
Long, long ago- the people of Israel were desperately looking for hope. They were hurting, they were suffering, they were seeking a savior to come and rescue them. And then- it happened. A little baby was born in Bethlehem.
“While they were there, the time came for Mary to have her baby. She gave birth to her firstborn child, a son, wrapped him snugly, and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn.” Luke 2:6
How could it be? How could the SON of God, be born in a lowly stable? Was this little baby really the answer to hope? Could it really be the Savior? The Messiah? Yes, and they named Him Jesus.
It’s 2018 years later, and people in our world are desperately looking for hope. In a world that is full of pain and suffering, in a time where division and discourse run rampant, we could use a little calm and bright.
In John 8, Jesus said
“I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life.” Jesus came to seek the least and the lost, and to share the message of love and grace.
I hope you will join us in December as each week we celebrate the message of “Silent Night” and highlight its call or our lives that can guide us all year long.
