Tomlinson Arboretum volunteers dedicate new kiosk
Dan Lepo, Coordinator, Friends of the Arboretum, was the program host for the dedication of the new information and wayfinding kiosk at the Tomlinson Arboretum.
This fall, be sure you take time to enjoy the tranquil beauty of Clinton Township’s Tomlinson Arboretum. During the summer, township officials, arboretum volunteers and friends gathered to dedicate a newly constructed information and wayfinding kiosk, which is located near the arboretum’s west entrance, at the end of 18 Mile Road. The kiosk features a wayfinding map, information about tree and plant species, planting techniques, maintenance tips, and the arboretum’s history.
A Celebration of Volunteers
Attending the dedication were the three surviving founders of the arboretum, Ray Glime, Don Green and Jim Hungerford. Recognized as kiosk benefactors were Don and Mira Green, John’s
Lumber of Clinton Township, and kiosk designer Maxwell Heiderer, of Polyarch, Inc. Friends of the Arboretum Coordinator Dan Lepo hosted the program, which featured guest speaker Township Supervisor Bob Cannon. In a surprise presentation, Supervisor Cannon awarded Dan Lepo the Clinton Township Volunteer of the Year Award. More than 50 guests were in attendance.
The information and wayfinding kiosk was constructed by a volunteer team made up from members of the Arboretum Committee and Friends of the Arboretum. The six-month long project began
