7 BEHIND THE SCENES at the OAC
UNIQUE WeddingVenue
Looking for a unique and urban setting to have your wedding and/or reception? Located on Detroit’s waterfront, the Outdoor Adventure Center will wow your family and friends the moment they walk in the building. The OAC brings the outdoors indoors. Our life-size bur oak tree will greet your guests at the door, with our picturesque waterfall in the background. Built in 1892, the OAC still has its historic charm from when Henry Ford did his apprenticeship here. We’ve added some modern touches with our sound system, lighting and décor. Enjoy hosting your guests in our one-of-a-kind rooms with a view of the Detroit River, Canada and a lighthouse! For more information on event space at the OAC, contact our promotional agent, Jackie Hoskins, at 1-844-622-6367 or DNR- OAC@michigan.gov.
YOU SHOULD VISIT...
Fisherman’s island State park
This beautiful, 2,678-acre park is located on Bell's Bay Road in Charlevoix. Fisherman’s Island State Park boasts over 6 miles of unspoiled Lake Michigan shoreline. However, the island for which the park was named is no longer actually an island. Due to years of lower water levels in Lake Michigan, the island has become a peninsula – now lush with native wildflowers. There are 80 rustic campsites, with 15 of those nestled in the dune area along the Lake Michigan shoreline.
The interior terrain consists of rolling dunes covered with maple, birch and aspen, broken up by bogs of cedar and black spruce. There is a 3- mile foot trail within the park.
This is a “must visit” for all of those who love rustic camping, hiking, fishing and our beautiful Lake Michigan shoreline
