Supervisor’s Message Seeing the big picture, handling the details
There is a gure of speech that most of us have probably heard before – the “big picture.” If you’re a person who often sees the big picture, then you’re one who recognizes the entire perspective of a situation or issue.
My job as supervisor of Clinton Township is to see and understand the big picture, and at the same time oversee those who are responsible for the operational details of delivering Township services in the best way possible, given the resources we have. Soon our Township will embark on developing a future big picture to better our services as we look to create a strategic plan for Clinton Township.
Strategic planning is an organizational activity that is used to set priorities, focus energy and resources, strengthen operations, and ensure that all employees are working toward common goals. Community stakeholders will also have a hand in what goes into our strategic plan, which is a blueprint of sorts that details what and how we provide services, and the intended outcomes. Effective strategic planning articulates not only where the Township is going and the actions needed to make progress, but also includes ways to
and utilized to help us formulate goals and objectives on how we move ahead will no doubt include data from the Southeast Michigan Council of Governments (SEMCOG). Their work is always stellar and readily available.
I’m looking forward to
developing our Township
strategic plan this fall with our
employees, residents, and the
facilitator we’ll bring on board to guide us.
As we embark on the planning process, we will need a cross-section of the community to give input and, possibly, be on the strategic planning committee, so I hope you will continue to follow this process and become involved in helping to shape our community. Whether you are a big-picture person or one with an ability to see the tiny critical details, your input is valuable, necessary, and desired.
Have a wonderful and safe fall season here in Clinton Township and in our beautiful state of Michigan.
