CTFD Residential Lock Box Program
A serious accident or health emergency at home calls for immediate medical attention and the services of a rst responder. Even with emergency help only minutes away, responders need quick access to the inside of a home to begin
medical treatment. One way residents can make it easier for rst responders to help, and to prevent damage from forced entry, is to participate in the Clinton Township Fire Department (CTFD) residential lock box program.
A residential lock box is ideal for those who live alone or with medical conditions and physical impairments, which could hinder their ability to react or help themselves in a home emergency. If you’re not familiar with a residential lock box, it’s a safe and durable metal box installed on your home – typically over the door or hung from the door
handle – that is designed to hold your house key inside. The lock box is secured by a master key to which the re department has exclusive access.
To participate in the program, call 1-800-466-9312 to purchase a lock box, or order one online at roperlock.com. The price is $37.95, a minimal amount when you consider your well-being and the cost of repairs to a door or window if a forced entry is necessary to help with an emergency. Once you receive your lock box, you must contact the CTFD at 586-263-8437 to schedule an appointment for them to install the box and secure your house key. There is no drilling or hammering when it comes to installing the lock box.
That’s all it takes to gain peace of mind should you or someone you know needs help at home in the event of an emergency. Clinton Township Fire Chief Tim Duncan enthusiastically supports the lock box program and says that from time to time, he receives donated lock boxes that are available for free for those who call the department at 586-263-8437.

Please have extra copies of your door keys made before scheduling an appointment with CTFD. Include all keys needed for entry – doors, deadbolt. CTFD will secure your keys inside the lock box.
