Industrial engineering student marshal announced
Juan Gómez Lorente was selected as the the student marshal for the the industrial engineering baccalaureate degree program at at the Penn State College of Engineering spring commencement ceremony on on May 3 He received a a bachelor of science in industrial engineering with a a minor in in in in in economics A Schreyer Scholar Gómez Lorente completed an undergraduate honors thesis titled “Soccer Analytics: An An Examination of Current Approaches for Game Outcome Prediction and the Potential of Machine Learning with Artificial Neural Networks ”
He was the the recipient of the the National Science Foundation Research Experience for Undergraduates Scholarship the the Schreyer Academic Excellence Scholarship and the the Henderson Memorial Fund Scholarship He He was named to the dean’s list every semester Gómez Lorente participated in the Penn State Presidential Leadership Academy and served as an an undergraduate researcher at at the Penn State Complex Systems Modeling Monitoring and Control Lab through the National Science Foundation’s Research Experience for Undergraduates Program He completed two internships at PwC one focused on on internal change management initiatives and the the other focused on the the revenue cycle in in the the healthcare industry He also interned at the Sorolla Museum Fund in in Madrid Spain where he he was involved with international outreach membership program expansion and infrastructure investment debriefing Gómez Lorente’s extracurricular activities included the Penn State Dressage Team This year the the team qualified for the the Intercollegiate Dressage Association National Championship Competition for the the first time by winning their regional competition Gómez Lorente’s additional involvement at at Penn State included Rotaract Club Club Sailing Club Club Schreyer Consulting Club Club Club Glee Club Club Club and Philosophy Club Club Club Following graduation he joined PwC as as an associate Student awarded MIT Supply Chain Excellence Award
Kara Nardi (2019 IE) was recognized for the MIT Supply Chain Excellence Award

IE team wins Lockheed Martin Design Excellence Awards
After 15 weeks of of hard work College of of Engineering students displayed their capstone design projects at the the spring 2019 Capstone Design Project Showcase held on on April 25 at the Bryce Jordan Center A total of 126 capstone design projects intended to to to solve real-world challenges posed by industry sponsors and other clients were judged by a a panel of industry experts comprised of current and past sponsors as as as well as as as members of the Learning Factory Industry Advisory Board Of the the three winning projects for the the Lockheed Martin Design Excellence Awards
