ISS – IN-SCHOOL SUSPENSION (for the period or for the day)
Teachers may call for administrators to come to their classroom to pick up students that need to be removed and taken to ISS for the class period. Work should be provided to the ISS Coordinator. Teachers should avoid calling for students to be picked up the last 10 minutes of class. Administrators may assign students to ISS for multiple disciplinary infractions for the period or for the day in response to a referral.
LUNCH DETENTION can be assigned by teachers or administrators for numerous infractions.
REQUIRED DIRECTED TUTORIALS will be held during lunch. A student whose grade is a D or below in any class will be required to attend tutorials as assigned by the teacher. Failure to do so will result in disciplinary consequences.
SATURDAY DETENTION is held on main campus only from 9AM - 12PM. Students are expected to be on time, bring school work, and work silently during the detention time. Students who are late or not following the rules will be asked to leave and will not receive credit for serving time. Only administration can assign students to Saturday Detention. Saturday Detention dates are noted on the calendar on the inside cover of/this handbook.
NON-NEGOTIABLES for STUDENTS
A decision about "why" you have chosen not to abide by one of the non- negotiables is not an option. Students are expected to comply with all rules and regulations set forth by WCPSS and Wakefield High School. Failure to comply with these 5 expectations may result in OSS.
1. CLASS OR PASS - If you are in the halls, you must have a pass and it must be presented when requested by an adult.
2. STA Y OR PAY - If students are out of place and are approached by any adult, they must remain in the presence of that individual until the issue is resolved. 3. COMPLY OR GOODBYE - Students are expected to follow the rules while
on campus. Failure to comply with reasonable requests may result in OSS.
4. ON TIME OR SERVE TIME - Students are expected to get to class on time. Failure to comply will result in ASD, Saturday Detention, and OSS.
5. TRUTH OR CONSEQUENCES - Students are expected to display the highest level of integrity. Cheating, lying, stealing, & falsification will not be tolerated.
