Tennis season 2025-26 is underway with many new
and exciting changes and events.
A general meeting was held on September 15, open to
all, and provided a tutorial guiding everyone using the
Court Reserve App to reserve courts. As of October 1,
all reservations must be made using this system. Still
in doubt, ask any board member or John for assistance.
The other topic discussed was wristbands. It is now
the rule to wear or have your wristbands available
before each session of play. Your game will not be
interrupted, but please be kind and cooperate with
security personnel.
October was packed with fun and excitement, including
the Annual Welcome Back Dinner Dance held on Oct.
11th. Our new pro, John, has introduced three new
exciting programs happening weekly and all residents
are invited to participate. Maybe some new players will
be inspired to join us in this fun sport.
John has also been working diligently with the 3.0
women’s travel team. Lots of enthusiasm can be heard
from their practice and we wish them a fun, successful
season. The men also have a Thursday 55+League.
More information is in John’s column and on the
bulletin boards. So men, if you are interested in a new
challenge, check out this league. Here’s hoping they
also have a great season.

Tennis Tip of the Month
By RSPA Racquet Sports Director John Koahou
“Moving with your partner is like the motion of your
car windshield wiper.”
The best doubles team move together on the court just
like the motion of your car windshield wipers. When
your partner moves in a certain direction, you should
move with them and stay within a distance of four
feet. The whole purpose of moving with your doubles
partner when they go for a wide shot is because you
will cover the middle of the court, which is where your
opponent’s next shot will be after your partner makes
the ball. Once you cover the middle of the court, it
will buy your partner some time to recover from their
shot and allow you to return back to your area of the
court. You may cover the middle of the court only for
a moment and then you must return to your side of
the court. There are two ways to move together on the
court. The first way is to follow your partner and stay
four feet between the both of you. The second way
is to follow the direction of the ball so, if the shot is
going to your partner, move in that direction. So move
with your partner or move with the direction of the
ball and your team will flow just like the windshield
wipers on a car.
