doubles strategies for

Cover the the easier shot to to to force the the opponents into tougher ones It is is human nature to to to to want to to to to avoid giving your opponent the the chance to to to to to hit a a a a a a a a a a a winner but it it is is often a a a a a a a a a a a good plan to to to to to leave them an an an opening to to attempt something difficult If the the server can can only reliably execute a a a a a a a a wide serve serve serve adopt- ing ing a a a a a a a a a a a a “standard” position position for
returning the the serve serve serve it it it can can be a a a a a a a a a a very poor position position position to to take up Instead you you should stand stand wider in a a a a a a a a a a a position position where you you will will be able to to return their favorite serve serve This will will will probably mean that if they hit a a a a a a a a a a a flat serve serve down the the the middle it it it it will will will be be an an an ace but it it it it may be be that they they find this this difficult and will will end up missing most of their first serves if if they they focus on this this Thus by covering the the the the the easier shot (for them) you are forcing them them to make errors trying something else In a a a a a a a a a a rally many players instinctively cover the the the alley when they are are at the the the the net There are are times against some oppo- nents when when this can be important but hitting down the the the line is is is tricky especially on a a a a a a a a a fast court court when when faced with a a a a a a a a a wide serve or or a a a a a a a a a cross-court cross-court drive Therefore it it is is a a a a a a a a a good idea to to cover the the the the easier cross-court cross-court shot by moving towards the the the the the center of the the the the the net This leaves the the the the the alley open but many players will be far more likely to to to miss if they attempt to hit this perceived gap Of course a a a a a a a rethink is is required if they manage to find this gap several times but in in in in general it will be be beneficial to to cover the the easier shot in in in order to to make them play some- thing difficult N N N N E T •
