  Capacity Management Process
  Capacity Management Process
The Capacity Management Process is responsible for the design, monitoring and delivery of capacity and performance to meet current and future business capacity requirements relating to IT services. The goal is to plan in such a way as to always deliver the correct amount of whatever is needed in order to never be short, but never deliver excessive amounts beyond what is actually required.
This ensures that the business
needs are fulfilled but that the
organization is not paying for
excess unused capacity.
Capacity management is
always a balancing act:
Supply vs. Demand / Cost vs.
Capacity. The capacity
management process is responsible for the creation of a capacity plan; used to understand capacity requirements from three different viewpoints: business, service and capacity management.
