Custom Frameworks (Pick & Choose)
Service management for your organization may include the blending of guidance (activities / processes) from multiple frameworks, standards or organizations.
Frameworks provide great starting points for the development of standard operating procedures for your organization. By using these frameworks (or suggestions), you alleviate the pain of starting from scratch and can begin an implementation based upon what has worked for others. Frameworks provide little to no validation points for success.
Standards, such as ISO / IEC 20000 (ISO20K for short), provide audit-able definitions of what the successful application of control mechanisms look like. (ISO20K = IT Service Management)
