Course Objectives
This course will introduce you to the ITIL® 2014 Lifecycle for managing IT Services in ways that improve the delivery to business expectation. Upon completion, you will be well-prepared to attempt and pass the current ITIL® Foundation Exam. Entry into future studies for ITIL® intermediate training courses require achievement of having passed the examination.
ITIL® is composed of 5 core sections.
• Service Strategy
• Service Design
• Service Transition
• Service Operation
• Continual Service Improvement
These core sections represent the stages that an IT service naturally moves through as it is birthed, transitioned to live, operated for the value of the business, and finally retired. Each of these lifecycle stages is an opportunity for IT to present demonstrated business value in the quest to remain and become more relevant to our customers. The demonstration of return on investment, and the ability to deliver value are two of today’s most important business values. Organizations that fail to show value and ROI are often replaced, or at the very least, minimized in importance in the eyes of their customer.
After completing this course, you will be able to:
• Identify the key principles and concepts of IT Service Management
• Describe the benefits that ITIL® presents for organizations
• Discuss service management processes and how they map to the service lifecycle.
• Identify concepts and definitions that apply to the service lifecycle • Identify roles and activities associated with processes and lifecycle phases
• Describe the relationship of lifecycle stages (inputs and outputs) and the importance of these relationships.
• Discuss factors that affect the effectiveness and efficiency of the service lifecycle.
