SYNOPSIS
Berth takes action and offers to pay Blom
150.000 dollars, thus putting a wedge between Blom and Senior. They agree to meet at a local McDonald’s where Berth will hand over the money. But it’s a set-up, Blom is once again caught by the police and sentenced to prison. To Jenny’s disappointment, Berth decides not to sell to Hagen. She doesn’t get it, why not sell the company and get rid of Private and Senior at the same time. It is as if Berth wants to hold on to Senior by fighting him. Berth calls off the Hagen deal and tells Erika that if Hagen is willing to pay 20 million dollars, the price will be much higher on the international market.
Karin has marriage issues with Klaus and reaches out to Berth. She wants Berth to spend time with Peter during the winter holidays. Berth takes Peter to Paris. Peter, who is now thirteen, has taken an interest in history and culture and Berth tries his best to guide him around the city. But Berth has another reason for going to Paris, he wants to hire the french hot shot director, JEAN COUTURIER, to direct Private’s new films. They meet at a film studio where Couturier is shooting a porn film. Berth doesn’t want to visit the set for obvious reasons, he has Peter with him. Berth knows that Couturier is valuable and can bring lots of money to Private, but he doesn’t like him. Couturier is arrogant and treats the staff and models badly. When Berth excuses himself, he needs to go to the bathroom, Couturier brings Peter to the set where the models are having sex. Peter is in shock but Couturier just laughs. Berth finds Peter in the studio watching the action and yells at Couturier. Berth remembers his own childhood when he stayed at Senior’s place in Stockholm and experienced how Senior had a piece of the models for his own pleasures. Berth hires Couturier but it comes with a warning, if Couturier doesn’t follow the rules, Berth will fire him in a second. Karin finds out what happened to Peter and tells Berth that as long as he is in the porn business, Peter will stay with her.
With Blom out of the picture, Senior makes new plans how to get his revenge on Berth. He finds a bribable and cocaine addicted tax manager, SCHMIDT, who is on Hells Angels’ pay roll. Senior, who has hade several issues with the IRS, is convinced that Berth tries to avoid paying taxes in Sweden. Senior who never paid any taxes knows that the IRS loves to scrutinize anything that’s got to do with porn and the Milton name.
Berth is in Zürich for Peter’s 15th birthday. Berth is an outsider among the relatives of Karin and Klaus. When Berth gives a speech for Peter, people whisper about the fact that Berth is in the porn industry and that Peter is lucky to have Klaus as a stepdad. Before leaving Berth asks Peter if he wants to spend the summer at the estate in the Stockholm archipelago and finally get to see his half sisters. Peter says that he’ll come when Berth is out of Private, until then he’ll stay in Zürich. Berth realizes that it’s the words of Karin and Klaus. As a way to hold on to Peter in some way, Berth writes Karin a cheque of 150.000 dollars to pay for Peter’s future education.
Because of the threats on Berth and his family, Erika places guards around the house in Barcelona. The threats seem to be from the Hells Angels, most likely a consequence that Blom ended up in prison due to Berth’s testimony. But there is more to it, Senior has left several messages to Berth’s secretary saying that if Berth doesn’t give in, Senior will send him a bullet. Berth doesn’t take Senior’s threats seriously and refers to him as a sad mad man. Jenny feels that they are prisoners in their own home and demands Berth to sell Private, it’s gone too far. This is not the life he promised her. He comforts her that he’ll go to the AVN Awards in Las Vegas where he’ll meet with Bob Guccione and Christie Hefner, and have them outbid each other. Jenny is skeptical, she has heard it before.
On the private jet to Vegas, Norell notices that Berth, Rodriguez and Erika are having meetings without him. In Vegas, Berth is the king and Natasha the queen, and voted Best Actress. Couturier is voted Best Director and Private voted Best Production Company, something which Norell feels will be the final approval that Berth will give him the raise and the stock options as promised. Norell tries to get Berth’s attention but he feels excluded. Berth and Erika meet with Guccione who offers Berth 45 million dollars for Private with Berth still as the CEO. Guccione wants an answer the next day. Rodriguez gets drunk and tells Norell that he can finally buy his vineyard, and that Erika will be a multi millionaire.
